These meticulously crafted excursions offer guests a guided journey into one of the most captivating natural environments in the United States. The region is characterized by its imposing sandstone cliffs, stunning ridgelines, and verdant valleys adorned with rhododendrons, showcasing some of the most distinctive geological formations in the country. 

 

Our tours take participants through these extraordinary landscapes and provide insightful commentary on the area's natural features, local way of life and history, while capturing memorable photographs throughout the experience. Our guided hikes promise a comprehensive and immersive engagement with this extraordinary environment.

Indian & Adena Arch Adventure

  • Distance - 3.5 miles roundtrip
  • Elevation gain - 816 feet
  • Time - 3-4 hours
  • Difficulty - Hard

This is a challenging route, featuring an initial incline of over half a mile. The route runs along the ridge line, offering stunning views of Adena Arch, Indian Arch, and Indian Staircase throughout the 3.5-mile journey. Please note that we will not be traversing the staircase itself. The path is generally well-defined, though some debris may be present due to a recent storm. While this adventure is demanding, it promises to be highly rewarding.

Turtleback Arch

  • Distance - 2.5 miles roundtrip
  • Elevation gain - 318 feet
  • Time - About 2 hours
  • Difficulty - Easy

Turtleback Arch offers a remarkable 2.5 mile out and back adventure that showcases one of the most stunning natural arches in the area. The mostly flat path leads you along the ridge, culminating in a slight decent of 3-4 feet, assisted by two sturdy mature trees.  While the drop may sound daunting, it is manageable for most hikers.  The route is short, and the reward is impressive.  

Whites Branch Area

  • Distance - 2.5-3.5 miles roundtrip
  • Elevation gain - about 1200 feet
  • Time - About 3 hours
  • Difficulty - Moderate

This adventure involves a leisurely walk along a decommissioned road, which provides a smooth and easy pathway. The route includes a detour to an overlook that offers scenic views and leads to a smaller arch. On the return journey, participants will navigate a short descent over a ridgeline, which involves a scramble of approximately 4 to 6 feet. This descent culminates in reaching the very impressive Whites Branch Arch. 

Cherokee Arch

  • Distance - 2.5 miles round trip
  • Elevation gain - 
  • Time - 2-3 hours

Embark on an adventurous hike to Cherokee Arch.  Cherokee is a stunning 44 feet tall and 41 feet wide, occasionally enhanced by a water cascading over its edge. Although it is in proximity to well-known landmarks like Princess Arch and Chimney Top Rock, the absence of a designated trail ensures a more secluded experience.

Hopewell Arch

  • Distance - about 1.5 miles
  • Elevation gain - 150 feet
  • Time - 2.5 hours

The trail to Hopewell Arch is a defined, user-created trail. The total mileage for this adventure is about 1.5 miles, with about 150-200 feet of elevation change. The ground is uneven and littered with debris.  This adventure will visit just the one arch on this out and back trip.
